Instructions for Write-Up 2
Within an Introductory Paragraph lies the most important sentence in your essay--the thesis statement. This statement announce's your paper's topic AND, more importantly, the position you are going to take regarding that topic. Last week you practiced Logical Fallacies and learned about words and approaches you want to avoid when creating a thesis statement. This week, you will put that knowledge to the test by creating a thesis statement.
You will do the following to complete tonight's activity:
a) Go to this website and read one of the original tales of the Three Little Pigs: http://gworkslptales.blogspot.com/
b) Go to this link and read FOUR student news reports that provide a different perspective on the Three Little Pigs Tale: http://gworkslittlepigs2.blogspot.com/
c) Identify the thesis statement in each of those four reports and list them. Analyze and determine whether or not they are logical thesis statements. If not, explain their weaknesses.
d) Based on all that you've read about the Three Little Pigs, create your own thesis statement about the story's plot line, lesson, or any angle of your choosing.
